Menopause is that threshold in a woman's natural aging process when she reaches the end of her childbearing years, usually confirmed by twelve consecutive months without a menstrual period (in the absence of pregnancy or other obvious cases).
For most women, this normal, natural "change of life" event occurs around age 50 but every woman's body has her own biological clock. Some women stop having periods in their mid-40s. Others continue well into their 50s.
Menopause is associated with reduced functioning of the ovaries due to aging, resulting in lower levels of estrogen and other hormones. Menopause marks the permanent end of fertility.
What kinds of changes can a woman expect to experience as a result of menopause?
Every woman is different of course, but the following are often identified by women as typical of their experience and observation as estrogen levels decline:
The decline in estrogen levels during perimenopause and menopause is permanent, and for some women many of these effects will continue unless steps are taken to replace those hormones by artificial means (Hormonal Replacement Therapy), or unless resumption of estrogen production occurs naturally as a result of taking Estrofil.
Many women "come into their own greatest power" during this phase in their lives as many of life's major challenges (child bearing and rearing, marriage issues etc.) may have been resolved and replaced with a newfound freedom and independence (coupled with a proportionate surge in testosterone) liberating them to actively pursue professional, spiritual and creative endeavors.
But for many women, the effects of menopause can be debilitating, and the quality of their lives can be severely impacted. For these women, effective treatments are essential.
